Gallery Particulier Brings Artworks to an East New York Seniors Residence

Event Date: June 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
Location: Gallery Particulier in Brooklyn, New York.

Brooklyn, NY — What happens when a work of art leaves the gallery and becomes part of someone's daily life?

Gallery Particulier will explore that question during an upcoming visit to a senior residence in East New York, where residents will have the chance to win artworks to display in their rooms and living spaces for six months.

Through a raffle, residents will choose an artwork and install it with assistance from Gallery Particulier. The program is free and designed to give people the experience of living with art, not just viewing it during a brief visit.

For many seniors, opportunities to engage with visual art can be limited by mobility, transportation, or cost. Gallery Particulier's model brings the artwork directly to people, creating a more personal and accessible experience.

The event will also invite participants to share a favorite memory, story, or song inspired by the artwork or simply something meaningful from their lives. These conversations are an important part of the program, which aims to make people’s voices heard, and we find they have a lot to say.

"We want people to feel that their experiences matter," said Quiana Dumas, Gallery Particulier manager. "The artwork is one part of the exchange. The stories people share are another."

The initiative is part of Gallery Particulier's ongoing mission to connect New York City artists directly with New York City residents. We bring information about the artists and about the artworks along with the art.

By bringing art into homes, senior residences, and community spaces, the organization is developing new ways for people to encounter and engage with visual art.

Gallery Particulier believes that art belongs not only in museums and galleries but also in the places where people live their everyday lives.
