Bowery Gallery is pleased to present a pop-up exhibit, “June Silverberg: On Water and On Land.” The exhibition will remain on view from June 17 to June 21, 2025, at the gallery. An opening reception will be held at the gallery on Thursday, June 19th from 5pm to 8pm, with conversation and remembrances of the artist at 6:30pm.
Silverberg found her favorite themes locally--the urbanscapes of the East River and of buildings and rooftops in the artist’s Manhattan neighborhood. Over and over, in all sorts of weather, at different times of day, in oil pastel, pastel and charcoal, on formats ranging from the small horizontal pages of her sketchbooks to oversized rectangles of rag paper, Silverberg depicted her neighborhood on the river and on land. In these works on paper, Silverberg succeeds in convincing the viewer of the poetry and pulse of these corners of the city where she lived her whole life.
