Why it matters
Tap & Tapas raises half of our annual operating budget. By contributing to GWM you help break the cycle of underachievement in a community of women.
About the event
Tap & Tapas was founded in 2005, and has been graced by the participation of the following chefs: Tom Colicchio, Savion Glover, Eric Ripert, April Bloomfield, Katie Lee Joel, George Mendes, Floyd Cardoz.
Past honorees include Hoda Kotb, Savion Glover, Jess Sims, Lauren Lovette, and Lola Ogunnaike.
Tap & Tapas is a favorite among NYC benefit goers because it is an easy walk-around, the food is amazing and the children are adorable.
About Groove With Me
Groove With Me (GWM) is a youth development organization that enrolls approximately 360 girls in East Harlem in free weekly dance classes and performance opportunities to attract and engage girls during the idle after school hours when 90% of youth violence occurs.
The program builds self-confidence and other achievement skills in an effort to prevent risk-taking behaviors. GWM seeks to decrease teen pregnancy, truancy, crime, violence, prostitution, substance abuse, and depression. It brings the benefits of arts programming to youth who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity.
