Gallery Particulier Takes Its Most Successful Exhibition Out of the Gallery and Into the Community

Brooklyn, NY — September 2026 — On September 18, Gallery Particulier’s most successful exhibition to date, Unboxed: Black Fathers Are Present, will move from its Flatbush gallery to Alex House Project, a dynamic and innovative nonprofit that helps young adults navigate parenthood.

As the majority of people do not attend museums and art galleries, Gallery Particulier innovates with ways to bring visual arts into the community.

It is the only nonprofit in NYC that takes art to people rather than expecting them to come to galleries & museums.

Visual arts are part of every culture, and bring benefits such a sense of identity and social cohesion, as well as an enrichment of experience, and connection to the artist.

Gallery Particulier have already brought art to many places including a women's shelter and a senior residence. Now, Unboxed is going directly to young adults who are working out what it means to be a parent.

Alex House Project Founder and Director Samora Coles is a visionary leader who is open to new paradigms. She immediately saw the value of bringing Dáreece Walker’s art to the young people her organization serves.

For Walker, making art that shakes up the status quo is essential.

The response at Gallery Particulier has been extraordinary. Unboxed has become the organization's most successful exhibition ever, drawing a steady stream of visitors and bringing families, parents, children, and community members from all over the city.

“These young people are busy parents for whom going to a museum to encounter art that speaks directly to their lives is unlikely.” says Arabella von Arx, director of Gallery Particulier. “The Alex House Project is a wonderful institution that helps them thrive, and we’re delighted we can bring the art there.”
